This page is for guild members and program coordinators which should have all the information necessary for Lectures and Workshops. Contact me if you have any questions concerning the following at Lindah40@dejazzd.com.
Guild Presentations
Formerly called Lectures, these are approximately 1 hour in length and include quilts as well as Powerpoint and/or DVD technology which requires a screen. I will bring my own laptop and projector. Fees are $250 for a 1 hour lecture.
1. History and Development of The American Quilt
As an Adjunct Instructor at Valley Forge Christian College, I teach Quilting Arts as a Fine Art credit to college students. Often I have as many guys as girls join the class. The students not only learn how to construct a Sampler Quilt but they also do research of the history, current direction, celebrity quilters and major internatiional quilting events. This lecture was a presentation to the student body, faculty and staff at the college to inform them about the wide world of quilting arts: howit originated, how it has developed and where it is heading in our culture. Most quilters will never know the history, scope and popularity world-wide of what it means to call themselves a "quilter". Why not educate your guild members as to how, why and where their passion began in those who came before us? This presentation includes short movie and video clips as well as a Powerpoint presentation. I bring all my own digital equipment, all I need from the guild is a blank wall or screen to project the images.
2. Journey of an Art Quilter – a Trunk Show and Powerpoint presentation of 25 years of my own Experimental Quilts.
As a quilter for 27 years and teacher for 18 years, I have dabbled with and experimented with many traditional and non-traditional techniques for creating Art Quilts. I have taught many of these techniques and have put together this lecture to include live quilts as well as a Powerpoint presentation of quilts I no longer own. It is designed to present new ideas and approaches to quilt making, particularly to Art Quilts for those who are looking to try new ideas in their work. I will explain methods and processes within the time appropriated. My goal is to share what can be done with traditional and non-tradition fabric and a little imagination.
3. The ART of Machine Needlefelting
What is needle felting and why would it interest a quilter? This presentation includes a sampling of machine needle felting artists work and businesses from around the world as well as an in-depth DVD on how the machine works. A needle felting machine will be set up after the presentation for those who would like to try one for themselves. For more examples of felted art, click on the Needle Felting tab on this website.

Guild One-Day Workshops
Please click on the "Classes" tab for all available workshop titles - there are currently 28 titles to choose from!! These workshops are designed to teach specific techniques that may be new to some quilters. The projects themselves are designed to be completed in one-day sessions but can be incorporated into other projects as well. Fees are $500 for an all-day workshop.
